Meet Executive Director, Eric Reed
For our very first edition of Staff Spotlight, we’re excited to introduce you to our Executive Director, Eric Reed! Since stepping into the role in June 2023, Eric has been at the forefront of FAAST’s mission—expanding access to assistive technology and essential resources for Floridians with disabilities.
Eric believes in the power of collaboration. As FAAST celebrated 30 years of service, he shared, “Our success over the past three decades is a testament to the invaluable partnerships we’ve built across the state.” He continues to strengthen those connections by serving on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Technology Act Programs and as an advisory council member for Florida AgrAbility. His goal? To bring disability organizations together and make it easier for people to navigate the systems and services they need to live independently.
Under Eric’s leadership, FAAST has grown—adding two new staff members, securing grants to expand our financial loan and recreation assistive technology programs, and increasing hands-on AT experiences at Family Café. Looking ahead, we’re focused on expanding Smart Home Technology initiatives and improving services in rural and outlying areas.
Beyond his work, Eric stays connected to the people FAAST serves. He recalls, “When I joined FAAST in 2015 as director of the financial loan program, I had just left a 13-year career in banking. The appreciation I felt from our earliest borrowers showed me this wasn’t just a career move—it was life-changing. I’ve been moved by FAAST’s impact too many times to count, and it still happens almost daily.”
Outside the office, Eric enjoys cooking and trying new recipes in his smoker. He and his wife love to travel with their two sons—whether camping in Florida’s state parks or taking trains across Europe. And when it comes to football, you’ll always find him cheering on his Auburn Tigers!
